HIV
prevention is an important part of the Zinberg's clinic community outreach
program. "Safety Net" parties are
organized
by staff in homes in Cambridge and Somerville. Here women have gathered
for a discussion about the
prevention
and treatment of HIV. Part of the discussion included introducing the
new female condom. Another clinic staff
outreach
worker demonstrated how to use the male condom. HIV prevention efforts
included culturally sensitive discussions
about
HIV risk reduction and behavior change. Links to substance abuse treatment
programs or mental health
services
are provided. Viewers during each clinic activity were able to interact
with participants and ask questions.
