My wallpaper shows how HIV enters the CD4 cell, turning it into a factory to make
more HIV. This is a view inside the virus.
My wallpaper print was based on Piranesi's Prison,Plate VII, which hung on the clinic wall. Understanding the
lifecycle of HIV has given us targets for medications, which are very effective in the current treatment of HIV/AIDS.
The two-day art/medicine action began November 30, 1997 with opening remarks by Jerry Cohn. She introduced me (left)
and Gerard Coste MD(right). In addition to being a printmaker, I am the HIV Psychiatrist at The University of Texas
Medical Branch at Galveston, Texas. Dr. Coste is Medical Director of the Norman Zinberg Clinic at Cambridge Hospital.
